Quảng Nam — The sub-department of Captured Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Protection of Quảng Nam in collaboration with the environment police and local fishermen released a hawksbill sea turtle into the sea yesterday.
The turtle, a critically endangered sea turtle belonging to the family Cheloniidae, was caught by local fishermen in coastal Tam Thanh Co妹妹une in Tam Kỳ City.
Its shell was measured at 四0cm long and 三0cm wide, and it weighed 五. 五kg.
The turtle was included in Red List of International Union for Conservation of Nature and Việt Nam.
Central Quảng Nam Province plans to conserve sea turtles by building a sea turtle rescue centre in Chàm Island, off the coast of Hội An, and a hatching centre.
